The season of horrible dungeons is over... With next season going to give it a run for most horrible dungeons in a season, but regardless, here is the recap post!

This time they count both raid and m+, so it stopped being a useful statistic? But it's been a ret paladin season - good numbers and facerolling play style usually means a spec gets very popular. Been a lot of them in raids, and at least one in every pug m+ it feels like.

Started the season doing both the raid and some keys on druid. Then killed more raid bosses/week on Mage so it took over. After the 2 month I almost only raided and did keys on Hunter, so it ended like it has done every season for a while now.

I attended a lot of reclears after I came back, so this number jumped up a bit. First time we barely did normal raid skips, not sure why since the two last bosses had good loot.

So this stat seems broken as always. It claims my progression on HC Ansurek is 3 pulls, which is the case for my hunter. But I had maybe 50 attemps spread out on mage and druid before my break, so maybe it just counts for the first character that kills the boss?

Those 102 days includes ~56 days of break, so it's not really a useful metric.

7s max for KSM scoring, the 8-9-10 keys are from guild m+ nights. Very boring graph :)

5 specs on 4 classes, down from 6 specs on 6 classes in DF season 1. I did not enjoy m+ on the two classes I started with, so not that shocking. Would not have liked the BM hunter either considering how lousy the aoe damage was a the start, but they fixed that somewhat.

Did not play with a stable group this season, so the most played comped must be really random. Not one with ret paladin seems weird. Come to think of it this might have been that one night I played my Mage in an Exiles guild group, and we did like 5 keys?

Mists tops with 29 and Siege bottom with 13. Mists, Grim Batol and Ara Kara the big three in guild m+, not sure how Necrotic Wake ended up number 3. Besides Mists, not a terrible spread.

Some early score with no pushing, then late season guild m+ nights led to some score, and pugged some keys we never do with guild for some more. 2440 was the account score this time. 149 dungeons is not less than 100, but it's 205 dungeons less than Dragonflight season 1.

Zøne top buddy with 13 runs (8,7%) and Slimall number 5 with 6 runs (4%). All of these are from guild m+ night, with Zøne and Fenaii and Kitiara the ones that doesnt run alts. Fenaii has appeared another season for the reason. Zøne I have not played with outside raids for 2 years almost until the m+ nights started; he seems to be one of those people that play 5-10 hours a week every week 52 weeks a year and gets to cross off all the goals that way.

It's really weird with no Tara, Ruthe, Rae or Sear - or any consistent group at all. Once I stopped tanking the possiblities weren't there anymore though, so it's just one of those things of the past.

In summary

This turned into a raiding season with a big break, and then show up for one raid night and m+ night towards the end of the season that racked up the m+ and raid boss kills numbers to "proper" numbers.

I don't think the season was very good. The raid and dungeons were not tuned well. The raid was enjoyable from theme/mechanical standpoint, but the dungeons were not. I did not find an m+ group I enjoyed playing much with, which is also a good thing as there is less obligation issues.

Overall, just a forgettable season and can only impove from here.

Before this season, Wutteät got to KSM 8 seasons in a row. While KSM didn't mean much in Dragonflight, it's a bit more rough in tWW it feels like. So I want to put that to the test, and see if I can make it 9 in a row, and do most of it in one reset...

So here's daily reports of how that went.

Wednesday (reset day)

This is the starting point. So I had done some +2s last week, so had some score going in. And 620 iLevel from the Isles ring, crafted items with reputation enchanted runed crests (neck, belt, boots, ring and 1 weapon), several timewalking weekly rewards and the odd delve item. Bit like cheating to start with this iLevel.

Wednesday progress (3 completed keys):

  • +4 City of Threads (morning key).

  • ++4 Necrotic Wake (afternoon key).

  • 4 Mists of Tirna Scithe (evening key).

Thursday

Accidentally deleted screenshot ><

Was a busy day, so had to do fast keys that turned into not that fast keys.

Thursday progress (2 completed keys):

  • ++4 Dawnbreaker (afternoon key).

  • ++2 Grim Batol (afternoon key).

Friday

Since wednesday I had upgraded a trinket to 619 and crafted 619 gloves, giving me Harbringer of the Runed. While possibly best to save up crests to craft 636 weapons, I'm not keen on spending the gold for the enchanted crests. So all crests will for now go into hero track legs - chest - helm. Had more time than the other days so far, so got more stuff done.

Friday progress (4 completed keys and 1 disbanded key):

  • ++4 Ara-Kara (morning key).

  • ++6 Mists of Tirna Scithe (afternoon key).

  • Disbanded 4 Siege - keyholder DCed on first pull, looked like alt-f4 (afternoon key).

  • +5 Grim Batol (evening key).

  • +4 Siege of Boralus (evening key).

Saturday

Was in horrible shape and a bit loopy, so didn't feel like playing WoW much and was about to uninstall. But perked up around RPG times, so the day was salvaged somewhat.

Saturday progress (3 completed keys and 1 disbanded key):

  • ++6 Necrotic Wake (evening key).

  • +++6 Ara-Kara (evening key).

  • +++4 Stonevault (evening key).

  • Depleted 6 Grim Batol - Mage left after we wiped on third boss twice [add contacts] (evening key).

Sunday

Keys tends to be a lot more fun when they're a break from Big Chore Sundays than when it competes with other stuff.

Sunday progress (5 completed keys):

  • ++6 Siege of Boralus (morning key).

  • ++6 Stonevault (afternoon key).

  • +6 Grim Batol (afternoon key).

  • ++6 City of Threads (afternoon key).

  • +7 Mists of Tirna Scithe (evening key).

  • +7 Dawnbreaker (evening key).

Which lead to:

For a total of 25 completed keys and 4 disbanded keys in total to get KSM, with 18 completed and 2 disbands this reset.

The streak continues, let's see if I can match The Undertaker's Wrestlemania streak...

While I don't really understand what they were doing with tuning this season on my hunter, I have even less of a clue on my Vengeance Demon Hunter. A lot of the trash in the game doesn't feel like it affects me, like most of Dawnbreaker where a lot of the aoe just obliterates the rest of the group. Then some trash pulls like around the third boss in Grim Batol, they auto me into the cheat death talent if I do not go in with Meta. "Consistent damage intake" they said. Yeah right, and this was after all the tuning passes...

Shadowlands was hard, and it was consistently hard, with some packs just being harder. And Dragonflight was really forgiving, some places more forgiving than others. Here the numbers people were just drunk...?

I was not blamed a single time however, as if it's somehow the healer's fault the tank or the dps gets globaled by undodgable damage they need to use defensives properly for...

Season 2 of War Within has been announced with patch last wednesday of February and the actual season starting first wednesday of March. So time to wrap up the projects of season 1.

The usual m+ - raid - profession triumvirate has continued, with a small dash of leveling the last new Esmë-reroll.

m+

The majority of the keys done has been the Epiphany m+guild nights, which for the most parts tends to be the same four dungeons (mists - ara kara - grim batol - dawnbreaker). As it usually tends to go when I do m+ in guild groups, even when Im not even voicing opinions. :) My OCD made me pug a couple of keys so scores would end up more even. One of the weeks the group I was in was hard carried by the tank, and timed 2 10s while at it. Sadly that means I have the Necrotic Wake portal, the one I really DIDN'T want :D

Broke down and did a few +2s on Wutteät on the side, the pull of keeping the KSM streak going hitting me now that time is running out. Intention of making a final season project of getting KSM in a week on the character, will see how that goes..

Raids

Esmënet did 3 raids, 2 of which were full reclears and 1 stopped on Ansurek. The raid that failed was fairly big and did not manage the usual stability. Picked up the one item I needed from there (Mandate from Ansurek), and obviously a lot of crests.

Professions

Now able to reliably craft rings, neck, cloak and wrist-belt-boots of all armor types at max rank. Can do max rank flasks and potions too but costing a lot of concentration at the moment. Way off on creating gems and enchants, so that's for next patch.

Have also stocked some more materials, but running low on enchanting materials as Esmëriel the Druid got to be enchanter... That I have not done anything on since october. Thus few items to disenchant besides the warband bound stuff from the island, and had to buy loads of dust to create the enchanted crests.

Leveling

Leveled another replacement alt up, Esmënehr the warlock hit level 80 after spamming timewalking dungeons with the xp buff you get from doing it during the event going on. And did the timewalking and dungeon weekly the week it was up to spice up the warbound gear it got equipped with. Made the character an enchanter (to disenchant all the warbound gear the character will no doubt get a lot of) and tailoring (to pick up cloth while doing the weekly dungeon rep quest if I do it). No plans to do anything endgame related.

Current feelings on the game

  • I was really not feeling like having WoW commitments when the new season starts. Intend not to be in a raid group that expects me to show up every raid night, so have notified Epiphany I will be erratic - which seems to mean I won't be able to join the raids at all. Which is a blessing.

  • Which means I'm not essentially back to non-commital Fighting Mongoose style play, which suits me fine.

  • None of the patch content (besides the raid) looks very appealing for long periods of time, so I'm going to guess I'll have another long break before 2 months passes of season 2.

For next time

  • Wutteät KSM in a week project first.

  • RIO season in review once it's available.
