Affliction on ptr

We're all waiting for the 9.1 patch now, since there is "nothing" left to do in the game. In the previous update affliction was gutted. It is very strong on live servers now, when stuff lives for a long time. A new patch note came out today. I couldn't believe my eyes. It looks like they are trying to get affliction fun to play again.


Here are the notes:

  • Corruption was increased. This means that they have moved damage away from malefic rapture into our dots again. Agony was also buffed in previous note. This is very cool, and means that we don't do zero damage anymore before we start rapturing.

  • Seed of corruption damage was increased. I don't know what the numbers mean. But I can only hope that the sow the seeds talent will be so good that we can use seed of corruption instead of rapture when stuff dies fast

  • Dark caller is now baseline. This is HUGE! It means that we have a 2 min dark glare instead of 3 mins. It lines up with other 2 min stuff. I don't really like long cooldowns, since I tend to hold them for too long. The cooldown is not a very strong one, so I don't think this will be OP.

  • Shadow embrace is no longer baseline. This is ULTRA HUGE! Shadows embrace is the most clunky, stupid thing they ever added to affliction. Let's hope they tune it so that we will never ever choose to use it.

  • New conduit instead of cold embrace. Very good! This was a conduit that buffed shadows embrace. Away with it!

They will probably tune the numbers lots of times before the next patch. I think these changes will really enhance the playstyle of affliction. It is too good to be true! Let's just hope that the numbers still make affliction viable.
