After playing affliction through prepatch, and doing content the first week of Shadowlands, I realised that it was not what I wanted to play. The gameplay is still so far away from the legion warlock that I loved. In prepatch it felt so much better being a balance druid than a warlock. The flow of the spec is just so much better. A lot of people don't like the eclipse system, but I think it's really nice, and think the spec would be more dull without it. The new starfall is super duper nice. The movement. The utility. You can stealth to get to your objectives faster. The option to be able to help out with healing once in a while. It was easier to solo Torghast as an ilvl 134 balance druid than a 150ish warlock.
At the beginning, I chose Venthyr as a covenant. Mostly because I didn't want to have two characters of the same covenant. But after reading up on both balance and resto, and asking in the balance discord, it was clear to me that night fae was the right choice. And I have not regretted it. It feels so much better being a night fae druid than a night fae warlock. Soulshape is actually pretty nice, even though druids already have a lot of movement abilities. You can use it endless in rested areas, and it is faster than cat form. It has a short blink, so it's easy to run away from enemies with. The convokoe the spirits is is super awesome! As a resto I can choose to use it for healing or damage. Paired with other cooldowns it is a super burst! The randomness of it is quite fun. Sometimes it even drops a full moon. But you have to make sure you are not in melee range, for then it will cast some random feral abilities too.
The raid will soon open, and I thought that if I should change main I must do it NOW. So I hurried to level 60, and just managed to do Torghast before the weekly reset.
