Ghoset & Navarim Project (Week 2)

anasurimbor1000

This week had Legion timewalking ongoing and Arena Skirmishes event. None of which were of particular use to these characters.

Ghoset the Astral Walker, Vice Duck of Enraged Rubber Ducks

Ghoset was played during early in the reset again. Total time was 4h, without fresh air and stretch breaks. Big mistake...

What I did this week

Opened the vault; neither option interesting. Would not spend valour on either, so took the cloak for the temporary 13 ilevel item upgrade over old cloak.

Korthia and 2 callings. Was not going to do Korthia, but got so frustrated with pug keys it got more tempting. Between getting 3 more conduits to 226 and the gold from Shaping Fate and Replenish the Reservoir it might have been the better long term choice anyway.

Six keystones:

Necrotic Wake +4 ***

Theater of Pain +5 *

Halls of Atonement +7 **

Sanguine Depths +6 **

Spires of Ascension +5 **

Plaguefall +4 ***

Keys were a mess this week. Time to fire up the old Kazzak rating:

*Necrotic Wake gets 0 Kazzaks. Smooth and no silly stuff.

*Theater of Pain gets 1 Kazzak. The keyholder did a little over 1k dps the entire run, including when pulling entire hallways with barrage. His 1800+ rated friend was obviously a bought thing too.

*Halls of Atonement gets 0 Kazzaks. The keyholder did some "???"S and "WTF"s in chat but that was it.

*Sanguine Depths gets 2 Kazzaks. The keyholder rolled into first boss, then rolled off the edge, ALT-F4ed and never came back - but we finished with 4 people and we got 1 piece of loot (so the shirking keyholder got a piece in mail). Bravo?

*Spires of Ascension gets 1 Kazzak. The keyholder (from Kazzak!) flamed one of the hopeless dps (the other hopeless dps being his friend), but at least that person did not leave as a response. Not so strange looking at RIO now, the keyholder has Cutting Edge so not so strange patience with +5 puggers was on the low end.

*Plaguefall gets 1 Kazzak. The keyholder did no mechanics, got beaten by tank on meter, and offered solid advice when waiting for res like "watch affixe" after he rolled stacks of bursting and pulled extra slimes so he died.

I had expected more when I started, like getting 8 keys done or something. Do 3 8-10s to get 1000 score, upgrade stuff with valor and burn through some 2-4s. Instead I didn't find good 8-10s and had to use nearly the entire time limit to get to 1000 rating through lower keys that were slow. I did not get a single drop in the dungeons either, so stagnating gearing. Have some valor to upgrade the couple of old items I have, so even if vault is bad next week I will at least have some upgrades.

Stats

Covenant: Kyrian (Renown 80)

Main spec: Vengeance (224 iLevel [+1]) [1004.5 score (+150,0)]

Offpsec: Havoc (224 iLevel [+1]) [0.0 score]

Main Secondaries: Versatility (12%) & Haste (22%)

Legos: Scorched Soul Shackles (rank 4)

Raid Prog: -

Professions: Leatherworking (max) & Skinning (max)

Plans for next reset

*5 (lower) Legion Timewalking dungeons, to be guaranteed one drop (the normal raid quest chest).

*Do own Shadowlands key 1 or 2 times the remaining time, for pure iLevel vault choice.

Navarim, Champion of the Naaru - Member alt of Twilight Hope

A fractured week compared to Ghoset. I did keys for a couple of hours when I had missed a guild call for Tazavesh. Getting a guild group seemed unlikely so did a mix of some solo stuff spread out over several days that needed doing for another hour, so playtime outside raid was about 3h. Raid was 1h 30m or so before asked to change to main, I think.

What I did this week

Opened vault. The cloak I have is better. The belt had no haste and is on domination gear slot. I upgraded staff last week so the offhand was not an upgrade either. Grabbed the offhand just in case I get a high ilevel main hand at some point.

Four keystones:

Sanguine Depths +2 ***

Mists of Tirna Scithe +2 **

Spires of Ascension +2 ***

Sanguine Depths +2 **

Since the keys were +2s, nothing weird happened. The difference between the **s and the ***s can be nailed down to tanks knowing where to go and what to pull.

Korthia/Tormentors/4 Callings.

Very exciting stuff.

Bank cleaning

Even more exciting stuff. Only took 15 years to tidy up the old material stack.

Did 4 raid bosses:

Tarragrue (heroic)

The Eye (heroic)

The Nine (heroic)

Remnant of Ner'zhul (heroic)

I got a lot of mechanics on The Nine and Remnant, so didn't get any data on how much things improved with the domination shards.

So the character stagnated completly in week 2, having no progress of any sort. (Besides some RIO score on demonology).

Stats

Covenant: Night Fae (Renown 80 [+0]) & Kyrian (Renown 80)

Main spec: Demonology (237 iLevel [+0]) [1306.0 score (+22,3]]

Offpsec: Destruction (233 iLevel) [915.2 score] & Affliction (228 iLevel) [97.5 score]

Main Secondaries: Haste (10%) & Mastery (44%)

Legos: Wilfred's Wristwraps of Superior Summoning (rank 6), Cindercloak of the Azj'Aqir (rank 3), Relic of Demonic Synergy (rank 2).

Raid Prog: Heroic Sanctum 5/10 [+0], 10/10 LFR Sanctum

Professions: Tailoring (max) & Inscription (max)

Plans for next reset

Do 5 low time walking pug keys.

Do Korthia + callings with the remaining time.

Pic of the week

A timed Theater of Pain 19 on Wutteät! Two weeks ago, it was my worst scoring dungeon, now it's second behind Necrotic Wake.

We could most likely have timed every key on 19, perhaps the odd 20, this week. With focus and no turbointing that is. It's a bit annoying some weeks are just so much faster (like this) or easier (like nearly every current tyrannical week) than others, especially when those weeks happen during the holidays. Getting a reasonable group for high stuff is hard when it's competing against proper RL stuff.

Prediction development

Ghoset will be closer in iLevel, but still more than 5 iLevels behind.

Navarim gained 0 iLevels, Ghoset gained 1 iLevel. Lead down to 13 from 14.

Navarim will have dipped into more content.

Neither have done new content this week. Still a tie.

Navarim will have more progress on alt specs.

Played Destruction on The Nine in the guild raid; I had a lagspike during opening, got a bunch of mechanics and died to just regular raid damage (perhaps one of the purple soaks was missed, not sure) twice. So technically progress, but not an output that means anything while getting it.

Thought of the week

Legion Timewalking. The promised land. But oh dear. Been so annoying. I pugged some really low ones on other characters (shaman mostly) and people are either legion vets that gets tilted when others don't do things right, or people like me that doesn't know how anything works and is in a learning process. This has been a thing in guild too, with people getting a high time walking key wanting to do them, while others dont want to do them at all or start with lower ones. So it's mostly ended up with not doing them at all this week.

Legion timewalking will go on for another two weeks, and with guild activity most likely being very slow, I'll try to do a lot of lower legion keys to get more of a grasp of mechanics - especially during the tyrannical one. I really want to do more of them, but finding a compromise in groups or have someone else tank the high ones some people want seems impossible at the moment. But if I can learn at least some of the routes and boss mechanics the next couple of weeks I would be better prepared the next time it comes around. And not have endless fail runs, the last few raids have had enough hours of that.
