My thoughts on BFA

The theme

I loved the starting area for horde. With trolls and dinosaurs. The alliance side was a bit more bland to me.

The story

Horde and alliance hate each other. Horde leader turns evil and do unforgettable stuff to the alliance. Yay, exciting. I'm really tired of the horde/alliance conflict. Aren't we done with it already? I hate that you have to choose a side, and can't play with your friends if they pick the wrong side. We also had the old gods storyline at least. That was ok. I kind of missed the aszhara and mechagon story since I didn't play through the whole expansion.

The raids

I didn't raid too much this expansion, even though I manage to get a handful of curves. The only raid I actually did progress through from start to end the with the same guild was Uldir. I remember is as a bad experience. On the last boss you had to jump through warlock gateways, and if you did something wrong, it was a wipe. It made my guild unfriendly, and was probably the reason I switched to the alliance side. Thankfully I played a slow lock and did not have to do the mechanics.

The dungeons

The m+ content this expansion has been very imbalanced. At the start melee dpses did so much more damage than ranged, so it wasn't really that fun. I never managed to do good with my lock in dungeons, so I ended up healing most of them.

Warmode

For me who is not a pvp-er this was just irritationg. Not being able to meet or summon with people who were in warmode.

Azerite armor

I really hated it. Some where really bad designed, and not tuned properly before long into the expansion. If you didn't get the right ones, your performance was shit. And the worst thing of all was that it was super multipspec unfriendly. I started the expansion as a druid wanting to do multiple specs. I needed one set for single target, one set for multi target, one set for healing dungeons and one set for healing raids. Really terrible design. Thankfully they made it easier to get the different traits later in the expansion.

Essences

The essences was kind of ok. You could choose different ones for your differnt specs. It was a long grind, and some of them was tied to pvp, which I never got. It started out terrible for alts, but later they added the possibility to buy the ones you had unlocked on other characters. One thing I love, and one of the few things I will miss with BFA was the Essence of the focusing iris. Every dps class could now have an aoe burst! For affliction, that was heaven!

Visions

I kind of like the idea of challenging end content that can be soloed. But the price to give a try was just too much boring grinding. And the affixes made the visions feel awful. It was hard to have few interrupts, and as destruction it was hard to actually finish your spell casts. I managed to complete the five masks visions as affliction. I tried as resto druid, but didn't have the dps for the bosses.

Island expeditions

At the start, the expeditions was fun! But it got bored really fast. In the beginning you had to do so many islands to get your weekly reward, it was just not worth the boring grind for me. They were supposed to drop mounts, but I never saw one drop.

Warfronts

I really didn't get the warfronts. It was just boring. The only reason I did them was for the transmogs.

Corruption

Terrible. Didn't like the rng at the start. If you were lucky, you did good, if not, too bad. The negative effect of corruptions was terrible. You could risk being slowed at the worst time. The eye thingy wasn't that bad (except for the healers that had to heal through it for dpses wanting to maximize damage). I never played with the other bad effects. You could upgrade your cloak to resist more corruption. The cloak grind was just soooo long. For me, having a long break after we did Ny'Alotha, it was impossible to catch up. Thankfully we could buy corruption later in the patch. But I didn't manage to gather enough resources to buy the most optimal ones.

The assaults

It was soooo boring. Nothing more to say.

My specs

Resto druid

Resto druid has been really good for m+ healing the whole expansion. I haven't played it much in raids.

Balance druid

Balance druids were ok. I played balance a lot in the end of Legion in dungeons, and it rocked. But starting out in BFA starfall was nerfed to almost unusable. And some of the azerite traits were just terrible. I kind of like balance, but I tend to get a bit bored of it over time. And I don't like how they look. I don't want to be a sparking astral person or a giant owl.

Affliction warlock

This was my main disappointment in BFA. Being OP in legion, they took away all that was fun. In dungeons it was nerfed to almost unusable. But they were still ok in raids.

Destruction warlock

Since affliction was terrible in dungeons, and it was hard to multi spec, I went destro after a while. Destro doesn't feel as good as affliction feels to me. It has fewer things to actually do. Too much of the damage was tied to the infernal cooldown. To do burst damage every 3 mins, and almost no damage the rest of the time is not fun. I know that it got better after you got lots of corruptions, and reduced the cooldown of the infernal, but I had already lost interest in the spec.
