Level 70, gearing and first heroic

anasurimbor1000

With Boatflight releasing, I stayed up for release and then went to bed once it was clear the boat had taken flight and the portal was just loading screen content. And I was kinda busy until late on tuesday, so I was kinda happy that for once was last on my friends list when it came to progress the first day of the expansion.

I shot past most of them again with some playing tuesday night and wednesday - helps a lot having seen everything before so can just drop reading the quest text and skip most of the cinematics. Not so much for immersion obviously but :)

So I dinged 70 wednesday afternoon, something like 30 more real time hours than it took me in Shadowlands, but less gametime I think. I forgot counting.

Leveling was a bit odd as I said beforehand. Doing sidequests while leveling is kinda meh, as they don't scale. But they do once you finish the main quest and get adventure mode, so I could go back to the starting area and do the side quests in order again for level 70, and get better rewards while at it. One of those Ivory Tower designs that are counter intuitive to me.

On wednesday night I did some normal dungeons with the shadowlands season 4 crew. I had zoned out fully and should prolly have been in bed or something, so I didn't learn much. But got enough gear from doing them and the associated dungeon quests to be able to queue for heroics.

Neltharus. Lengthy, not sure there was any confusion about mechanics.

Halls of Infusion. Everyone was a bit confused about the wave mechanic on last boss, but we learned from our mistakes I think :) I knew but had the reaction speed of someone who shouldnt be playing.

Academy. This was fairly straightforward for tanks - it had some chances for being knocked off platforms but they were being easy to spot.

Vaults. This was a bit more complicated, and had less telegraphed knock off platform mechanics. I shouldn't have been playing during this, and did a lot of mistakes I have never done before. I only remember some stealth stuff, the platform knockbacks and the last boss having some pillars or something that needed killing but this is a void in my mind right now :)

Today as a "lunch key" I did my first heroic, ruby life pools. As on beta it was easier than normals if you queue with the ilevel requirement, especially if people have done it on normal before.

Overall it's been enjoyable, but I done did overdid the playtime a bit. The crew from last season are going hard, and I was hoping a bit to do the m0s with them for learning purposes. Will do some heroics tomorrow and friday, and try to do m0s this weekend. And just see who is around.

I have also done a lot of herbing, scouted a bit for dragon skill points and got a couple of pets. But those activitives will take more of a center spot once the first set of m0s are done.

I must admit the profession system is hella confusing at the moment - especially enchanting seems to be bugged when it comes to what the profession thingie says and what it actually does. But will be interesting to delve into, and perhaps blizz will hotfix some of the weird stuff.
